Please Doug. There are WAY too many idiots on DEwomen who make $40,000/yr who are dumb enough to think they can afford this car AND the insane repair bills when something goes wrong. As a Public Service, let's not encourage this kind of irresponsible behavior. These are the same people that voted for Trump and think KISS are a good band LOL

The door open - close door advice is strictly for countries where you can sue the manufacturer of your laundry machine for not pointing out that you can not wash your dog in it...😌

The score on this one is incorrect. Mercedes back at the time did not aim to have a full sport car vehicle that will tear corners and leave all Civics and what not in the dust. Back then it was simply about high comfort where you got only very little response from the street and you would notice only things like the interior or your partner sitting next to you. Back then it was also a statement that you have massive power not to use it from start to stop but simply that *you could use it if you would feel like it* and nothing else. Most owners never experienced the full blast of their car and lived just fine with the feeling that one day they could if they would like to but actually never did :) BTW who would like to own this chasis for a daily and have maintenance costs fairly lower don't go for the AMG version but the regular non-AMG like the CL 500. They are incredibly cheap nowadays here in the EU since fuel economy is a big thing for a few years now and the WOW factor is still strong.

There is a reason this is a $30,000 car. We all know it, so I won't waste my time. If you have $30,000 of fuck-you money, are a mechanic, and enjoy the challenge of fixing a car on the cheap until it is no longer streetable, go for it.

LOL Sure get one of those and you'll see why Rich people buy & own V12 Benz. The Repairs & Maintenance Costs will empty your Bank Account Faster than your Ex Wife to be. I know I work on European Cars. If your not making 6 figures or more a year you have NO Business owning a Car like this. Like I tell some of my Guy Clients Joking I Say having one of these Cars is just as Expensive Dating a Victoria Secret German Super Model with a Bad Coke Habit

Nothing special about the doors, the first gen Lexus SC's had unique hinges that allowed the doors to open wider they would swing out and back to open with more space in smaller places.

I own a 2005 SL 65 AMG. I turn my own wrenches. Preventive maintenance is key!!!!. I have had it for a year and spent well less than $1k so far. Mainly on PM. Daily driver for me. That's the other key, they like to be driven. Sitting for weeks at a time wreaks havoc on this car. Things like the ABC suspension need regular attention. Clean fluid is important. MB originally designed the suspension as a lifetime maintenance free item. Not so. I would bet if an original owner simply paid attention to taking care of this car, it would last a very long time. Most new Benz owners rely on the dealerships. The sales department relies on the owner when the car is out of warranty lol! I did do a Kleemann tune bringing the numbers to 750 hp and 840 lb/ft of torque. That was only $800. Love this car!!!!

You have to understand that in Germany every kid knows Bosch and that it sort of stands for quality. I think this is the reason why MB has no problems putting the Bosch logo in a prominent spot, btw nice review man

Always wanted a luxury car and have been on Autotrader gaping at this CL 65 and the SL 600 (it has to have a V-12). $30K seems like a good value, but the comments on this video lean towards insane repair bills. Debating a 6 month ownership of an Aston Martin DB 9 or a Gran Tourismo Maserati, but it seems all cars in this class are a dice roll. Decided to roll those dice and have a great time with a great car no matter the outcome! Thanks for doing what you do, Doug. Still searching for that diamond in a bargain basket on Autotrader.

14.62% devaluation per year or 1.3% per month, US$2.29 per mile(linear) plus fuel, maintenance, taxes and insurance, the question is: How much will it cost to keep? Any part of this machine will cost 10k LOL.

Right car for petrolheads. It has everything that huge, expensive, mighty sportcar should have. It has look, it has power, it features quality, and it looks classy, but not necessarily fancy. One great piece of an excellent car.

Well, ya know why they tell you what to do when the door is open? Because in some countries *looking over to the USA* you can sue the car manufacturer when you are to dumb to close a door. Or drink a coffee. Or use a chainsaw (There are warning lables telling you not to stop the chain with your penis b/c of you guys).
