The 2001 BMW 750iL is a special car -- and I think it's the most beautiful luxury sedan ever. Today I'm reviewing the 2001 BMW 7 Series to show you why I think the E38 7 Series is such a great car.

E28 E23 better than any other BMW models ever made. Cost of upkeep is the reason.

Doug, although you mentioned that this is a 2001 model, but the infotainment system is of older type. Widescreen navigation system was intriduced in mid 2000. that was shared between 5 series and the X5 as well. An optional selfopen trunk lid was available and if you bought the 'BMW Individual' package you can almost custome make your car. Follow this www.e38registry.org/category/individual/

The Mercedes-Benz W126 or the C126 (SEC) was even better, I believe. Along with the W140, the were all much more substantial to drive than any E38.

My friend had one of these W12 7 series. It is a car for Autobahn long distance riding. Totally stable driving at speed of 250 km/h. Normal travel speed 250 km/h. Unlocked this car goes up to 300 km/h.

Well, I have never liked BMW and never will. However, this was one car that I've liked very much. Amazing styling with grace on top of it.

Looks dated! The 2003 7series still looks clean and modern

Sorry Doug, gotta disagree with you on the BMW. It was a fine car but the Jaguar XJR of the day had more power and better handling. It might not have been quite as loaded with high-tech gizmos but it was a Jaguar so high-tech gadgets wouldn't really be what you'd want... ;-)

Those side pockets on the doors are designed to fit a handgun. Audi A8s had a small tray beneath the front seats for the same purpose. I guess they know their clientele

This is not a 01 750 but a 99-00. In 00-01 the 750 was c equipped with a 18.9 widescreen and dvd navi computer. I have had 3 750''s, one of them was an 750i individual.

What a beautiful car this is and definitely, luxury by any standard, dated yes, but looks so comfortable and user-friendly none the less. isn't it amazing how much the car cost when it was new, compared to what you can get it for now, and as for getting a low score for speed etc, well, when you're in a car like that, I would imagine that you would just want to cruise and let everyone see you driving it, rather than race down the road, thank you for doing this review Doug, it was a pleasure to watch, would you ever consider reviewing the BMW 635CSi?, which in my opinion, it also a beautiful model, for a coupe, and no, I don't have one just in case you're wondering, I wish I did, it seems to me that cars today have lost their individuality and are looking like every other car a lot of the time if you know what I mean, unique design seems to have disappeared out the sunroof, which I noticed you didn't mention in this review, was that because the sunroof wasn't working?, thanks again Doug

I own a 99 E39 M535i and a 05 E61530D M sport touring. No comparison between the two cars and BMW definitely have gone backwards in terms of build quality and enjoyment of ownership. I will never sell the e39 and it is bulletproof whereas the e61 is constantly breaking and is an absolute pig to work on.

I had those xenon headlights, those Comfort upgraded seats, the built-in cellphone and the electric memory seats/steering wheel and mirrors in my 1998 E39 535i. You don't need to buy a 7 series to get those

These and the 5 series remain my favourites of that era. I would still consider a tight 540.

This 2001 7 Series is so much better looking than any current BMW sedan. Chris Bangle did great harm to BMW styling, not that sales were negatively impacted. But the current 7 Series is just a tub.

I've been around cars all my life. I work at an auto body shop in san francisco and I have a 2001 BMW 740 il for the past fifteen years. It is by far the most comfortable, reliable and beautiful car I have ever owned. I love my car! Not one problem...it looks beautiful to this day and I get compliments on it wherever I go! I wish I could find another one in the same condition as mine...just so I'll have two! Love this car....

Doug. I have been watching your videos for several years now, and it is in this video that I realized under your guy next door, loveable personality, you are a car guy 100%. This is also my favorite large car of that time period, really of any time period. Even my best friend's wife, who is from Tehran and cares little of cars, knows the 2001 BMW 7 series is the Pinnacle of automobile excellence and swoons at the sight of these. We have actually had a real conversation about this car. I'm glad the owners have taken care of these gems. Thank you.
